Apple is always scheming, it seems. They've quickly dominated the streaming world with the launch of Apple Music, and the inclusion of their Beats 1 radio service has only upped the ante to draw in subscribers-- not to mention all the celebrity/well-known hosts they have on Beats 1.
It appears as though Beats 1 is so successful, that Apple is considering launching multiple new stations. These plans would be in infant stages, as reports have surfaced today that Apple has applied to trademark B1, B2, B3, B4, B5, including the matching marks, Beats Two, Beats Three, Beats Four, and Beats Five. Their application is currently under review by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. All four trademark applications are assigned to "Beats Electronics, LLC," as MacRumors reports, and each has the same logo as the one used for Beats 1, on top of which the trademarks are listed under broadcasting- and streaming music-related categories, thus implying Apple is looking to launch more radio stations. As if there's need for more evidence, Apple's licensing terms with record labels apparently allows for them to create up to five different stations like Beats 1, without needing to re-negotiate the terms.
We'll keep you posted.
