Nike giving the nod Ken Griffey Jr. ahead of his Cooperstown induction.

The Major League Baseball season kicked off this week, and Nike is right on time with a retro of one of its only signature sneakers for a baseball player: the Nike Air Griffey Max 1.

This particular colorway is called “Emerald,” and last released in 2011, around the time Ken Griffey Jr. returned to the Seattle Mariners. This shoe sports traditional Mariners colors, and is clearly built for the baseball diamond with a sturdy construction and high ankle strap. The strap features The Kid’s number 24, and has a vertical swoosh on the back.

The Air Griffey Max 1 isn’t just coming back because of baseball season. Ken Griffey Jr. will be inducted into the baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, NY. Keep your eyes peeled for special edition HOF model later this summer.

These kicks are reportedly dropping April 21, but retail price hasn’t been announced yet.
