Yesterday we shared Supreme’s new collaboration with The North Face (naturally, it’s already sold out), and the collection was pretty dope. However, it looks like Supreme might have made some sketchy maneuvers while producing the Steep Tech collection.
A$AP Nast posted a series of pictures to Instagram, and suggested in a couple of lengthy captions that Supreme had stolen his idea for the collection, if not the specific designs. In the captions, he says “Supreme stole yet another idea of mine smh shouts to everybody who liked that I brought back the north face steep tech along with my brother Marko my graphic designer who helps me bring my ideas to life thank you all who lined up for my idea I truly appreciate it don't let them lie to you !” The A$AP rapper later added, “I gotta admit tho it's kinda kool seeing something you saw as a good idea come to life on the other hand it's highly inappropriate and disrespectful at the same damn time show some respect I've done nothing but show these guys love and this is the payback I get ??”
He goes on to back up his claims by sharing a number of Supreme products next to either his own designs and or designs from brands like Polo to show how unoriginal Supreme’s designs can be. Supreme has never been one to push the envelope or break new trends (even their logo was notoriously taken from a graphic artist), so this isn’t necessarily surprising.
Nast also tweeted that he has “Fuck Supreme tees coming soon.” Check out the whole suite of photos below and let us know if you think Nast has a point.
