Jacquees first told us about Lost At Sea, his joint project with Birdman, back in February. "You know, I call my rapping ‘swangin’’ cause its not real rap. It’s swangin’. It's melodic. So I’m doing a lot of swangin’ on the project." As promised, the singer's vocals do veer towards the rap-influenced side of his sound across the new EP, at times recalling former Rich Gang collaborator Young Thug in his cadence. On "007," the closing track, he opens with his self-described "swangin'," but ultimately opens up his delivery into his sweet singing voice. Birdman doesn't actually show up on this one, but Detroit rapper Dej Loaf, who you could say has had her own style of "swangin'" since she first arrived with "Try Me," takes his place, fusing rap and R&B in an enviably original way with her verse.
