If you spent any time on the internet this week, you probably caught an extremely viral video of Adele doing carpool karaoke -- a clip made most memorable by the singer's surprisingly solid take on Nicki Minaj''s beloved verse on Kanye West's 2010 hit, "Monster".
While you'd hope most people would already be familiar with Minaj's fiery 16 (and really, have it committed to memory) at this point, it seems Adele's version of the song was an introduction for many.
As a result, "Monster" (which is going on 6 years old) is now sitting at number 8 on the iTunes hip-hop charts (as pointed out by Pigeons and Planes). With that in mind, we also anticipate the song making an entry on the Hot 100 next week.
The biggest takeaway from all this is that Adele has joined the elite league of artists whose co-sign alone can attract a huge amount of attention to a record. Next time, maybe it'll be an artist who isn't already among the biggest in the world who gets a big break.
