Metro Boomin is riding the fast lane to hip hop ubiquity. He’s produced a number of top tracks over the past 18 months, and now has transcended into meme territory with the “if young Metro don’t trust you, I’m gon shoot you” ad-lib at the beginning of The Life Of Pablo’s “Father Stretch My Hands Pt. 1.”
While in the UK, Metro stopped by BBC Radio 1 for a 30-minute interview with Benji B. They speak on a range of topics throughout the conversation, but the most exciting part comes when Benji asks the 22 year old producer what he’s got coming in the pipeline. Somehow, the host gets Metro to acquiesce.
“I never ever really talk about things like this, but we in the UK so… I met Kendrick, and we were in the studio. He picked a bunch of beats out,” Metro Boomin reveals. He’s not done though, saying, “been working on a bunch of stuff for Big Sean’s new album.” Kendrick Lamar only just released the surprise project untitled unmastered last week, so it seems like Kendrick really does live in the studio when he isn’t on tour.
We also haven’t heard much from Big Sean since he dropped Dark Sky Paradise at the beginning got 2015, but any news of new music from him is good news. Listen to the whole interview with Metro Boomin here.
