Soon after leading Rita Ora's highly revealing cover shoot for Lui magazine, fashion photographer Terry Richardson has now taken on a male subject, The Weeknd, for what looks to be an in-depth profile piece for British GQ.
The issue hasn't hit stands yet, but the XO singer as well as Richardson both took to their Instagrams to share shots from the upcoming spread. Abel's outfits for the shoot stay in line with the '80s aesthetic he has stuck to while promoting his latest album, Beauty Behind the Madness.
Richardson is known for being especially provocative with his female subjects, so his photographs with The Weeknd might seem relatively tame. I suppose the one of Abel peering in -- tongue out -- through a torn hole in a sheet of red paper is quite suggestive, though.
In addition to the photos, it seems the British GQ editorial feature on The Weeknd will be worth checking out. It's difficult to see much of the text from the pictures shared on Instagram, though one can read a couple of enlarged quotes next to page-length shots of the Toronto pop star.
"I absolutely wanna be the biggest in the world."
"It was the music Patrick Bateman would have made if he had been the son of Ethiopian immigrants."
