French Montana is gaining breakthrough solo success with his song “Shot Caller,” but the Bronx rep isn’t letting his hustle rest. He’s dropping his duet project with Waka Flocka Flame in less than a month.

“I’m dropping an album on November 1,” he said. “A street album with me and Waka Flocka. We did a joint album together. It’s called Lock Out. Then I have one done with Three 6 Mafia called Cocaine Mafia. Both of those albums are done. I’m aiming probably [to release the project with Three 6] right after me and Flocka drop. It’ll be this year.”

Although the projects are more like mixtapes than traditional LPs, French says he’s going to be promoting the projects.

“We gonna drop singles outta it,” French said. “Me and Flocka gonna work ‘em. It’s probably a joint with me and him and Ross [as the first single], or a joint with me and Waka and Jeremih, or a joint where it’s just me and Waka. We’ll have a listening party where people pick which one. It’s more like a mixtape, but we call it a mixtape album.”

French also made headlines this week courtesy of Rick Ross. The Bawse was a guest on Power 105.1’s Breakfast Club morning show and spoke to hosts Angela Yee, DJ Envy and Charlemagne Tha God, about the rumors of signing French Montana to the Maybach Music Group.

“It’s a possibility, shout out to Frenchie,” Ross said. “I flew him out to Miami, we had a good conversation, we got in the studio and we gonna try to make some things happen.”

While talking to XXL in August, French revealed that he’s on a song on MMG’s forthcoming Self Made, Vol. 2 compilation.

“We did some songs for the Self Made album that’s about to come out,” he said. “Ross is one of the realest niggas in the game. He kept it 100 since the day I met him. If I sign with him or don’t sign with him, I’mma fuck with him regardless. Anything that dude needs from me he’s good.”

As for who French is leaning towards inking his record deal with, he says his decision will be based on how the contract is structured and that long term security is very important. He did mention a few front runners.

“I love what Diddy does with his artists,” he said. “I love Ross and his movement [and] I love what Kanye has going on.”

Stay tuned to XXLMag.com to see who French decides to sign with.
