Migos' debut album, Yung Rich Nation, underperformed in its first week, selling under 20,000 copies. Perhaps the flop is what moved them to announce they had parted ways with their label, 300 Entertainment, writing on Twitter last week, "No business with 300ent! YRN QC independent. Big announcement coming soon."
The tweet came as a surprise to many, including label head, Lyor Cohen, who claimed he had heard nothing of it in Rap Radar's latest podcast.
"Migos is still under contract. They're still part of the 300 family. So I don't actually know what you're referring to," he said when asked about the announcement. "I will investigate that when I get back to the office. They're incredibly talented. Those guys are unbelievable talent."
It seems there may be some tension between Migos and 300, but we hope they figure things out. Meanwhile, Fetty Wap's debut LP is coming later this week. Looking at his presence on the Hot 100, it should do decent numbers.
