During its original release in 2008, there was little to signal how influential the Nike Hyperdunk would become. It was quickly adopted by every NBA player without a signature shoe deal, attesting to its top-notch performance, and its unique silhouette gave it an equally popular presence as a casual sneaker.
Eight years and multiple iterations of the shoe later (a 2016 version will release soon), Nike has definitely taken note of the shoe line’s popularity; they are rumored to produce four colors of the original Nike Hyperdunk model this year. The move wouldn't be too surprising, since Nike has been doubling down on their retro philosophy in recent years.
Going fully monochromatic, the four sneakers may become available in black, bright crimson, royal blue and volt. The eight years have probably not been kind to the shoe’s performance technology, but as a lifestyle shoe they haven’t lost anything.
Did anyone have the original hyperdunk, and will you be copping if these drop?
