On December 27, Janet Jackson announced that she would be postponing her "Unbreakable" world tour due to an undisclosed surgery. It has been revealed that the 49-year-old singer was forced to undergo treatment for throat cancer.
There is no word on Jackson's prognosis, Dr. Stuart Fischer (not Jackson's doctor) told Radar Online that if the cancer is located in her larynx, her singing career would be over.
“That would abruptly end her ability to ever perform again. Singing would be impossible," he said. “Surgery would be very complex, followed by months of radiation treatment."
With over 160 million records sold, Jackson is one of the most successful pop stars ever. Here's to a successful recovery and a return to the stage sooner rather than later.
