Taylor J is quickly making a name for himself out of St. Paul, Minnesota. Earlier this week, he dropped a new track and video, before announcing that "Proud" is part of a forthcoming surprise EP. Two days later, Taylor has made good on his promise and come through with Before The Wake Up.
Along with “Proud,” the EP also includes Taylor’s December single “Side Effects.” Both of those tracks are produced by Scott Supreme. Additional production on Before The Wake Up comes from S.M. Tracks, Big Head On The Beat, and Carter X.
Overall, Taylor is building a sound that’s a cross between a rare reflectiveness as well as a gritty confidence, which gets brought out when the beats veer in the trap direction. He’s enjoying the lifestyle that comes with his heightened exposure, though he refuses to compromise on his unique style.
