808 Mafia's signature sound might be the post-"Commas" siren screech, but if the the occasion calls for it, they're happy to bring out the bright synth patches. Sicko Mobb don't really do "dark," so "What You Sayin" gives the 808 boys a chance to bring out some triumphant synthesized brass sounds, sounding like something Future might have rapped over back in the Pluto days.
If Sicko Mobb are going to be the ones to keep that sound alive, we're all for it. Since the release of their debut mixtape Super Saiyan Vol. 1, their music has moved away from bop and more into the center of the melodic rap spectrum. On their newest project SSV3, they team up with Jeremih, and stretch their pop sensibilities even further, but for now, they still own the lane of manic, shiny sing-rap.
Quotable Lyrics:
They used to call me broke
Now I'm like bitch, what is You sayin'?
Pull up in that foreign thing, yeah
Dreaded like a Haitian
What You Sayin
