Public Enemy have been inspired by rappers who provide political and social commentary, namely, Kendrick Lamar and Run The Jewels, so much so that they're dropping a new album.
The veteran rap crew announced the new project on their Facebook page, revealing possible cover art and a release date. The album, titled Man Plans God Laughs, is dropping on July 14th via SPIT Digital. Following the album's announcement, Chuck D spoke to Maxim about the concept, which is when he referenced the inspiration as K. Dot and RTJ, "inspired by Run the Jewels and Kendrick Lamar, but stayed far enough away from them to still be Public Enemy."
Chuck went on to speak on the idea behind the album, saying, "We’re making a comment about the 21st century in this technological yet still political world. It will be able to tell its own story without me trying to talk to it."
Stay tuned for the album's release.
