Jet Life co-founder and emcee, Young Roddy capped off 2021 with his new single "Amen" featuring the legendary Killer Mike. Over Iceberg Black's production, the two smoothly swap bars over an ambient, trap-infused instrumental.
Ahead of Roddy's next album, Never Question God, the rapper has been showcasing his lyrical prowess. Coming off the success of his 2021 album release God Family Money, which included singles "Crawl Back" and "After Hours" featuring Curren$y and Smoke DZA, Roddy is back with some more pressure. Roddy undoubtedly holds his own, despite having the legendary Killer Mike on feature duties. "Amen" is a laid-back yet motivational single as Roddy raps of tunnel vision and success despite the expected obstacles. "Took a few L's, took that on the chin/but b*tch I'm a champ, I know how to win", he raps in the first verse. Killer Mike meshes well with Roddy's energy, adding more dimension to the single. If this is how hard he's coming, fans will have a lot to look forward to next year.
Roddy arrived on the music scene as an integral part of Curren$y's Jet Life crew consisting of Corner Boy P, Wiz Khalifa, Le$, and more. His 2018 album Face the World would help him gain notoriety beyond his crew after embarking on his solo career back in 2012. Since then, the Kenner, Lousiana native has consistently delivered projects that showcase his musical ability. After dropping God Family Money earlier this year, Roddy is prepping for his next album set for a February release.
Quotable Lyrics:
I got the power like Tommy and Ghost
Might break down a brick and go buy me a boat
Good in the hood, they call me the goat
But all the D Boys they call me the truth
