The three spitters each take a turn on the mic, going in on Little Shalimar’s moody, stuttering production. No fancy stuff either, just straight up lyricism from each emcee.
The message behind the song works for both the era of the film in the 1970s and today: the rappers call out that the struggle everyone goes through from “Detroit, LA, B-more, Houston” it’s the “same damn thang and it’s a shame.” It’s good to hear these rappers remind us the struggle is universal.
