You probably first heard of Allan Kingdom through his appearance on Kanye West's "All Day". If you took the opportunity to explore his material, you already have a good idea what he's about, but if you haven't got around to checking out the Plain Pat-managed rapper, his new project, Northern Lights, is a great place to start.
One of the weird and wonderful moments of Kingdom's new project is his collaboration with Virginian singer D.R.A.M. "Renovate" finds both artist bringing their unique vocal styles to a constantly shape-shifting instrumental, carving out some hooks that may only dig in after a few listens through. You can grab the whole project here.
Quotable Lyrics:
See my hinges getting weak
And the drapes over my dreams
I don't think I need to leave
I'm just tired of the charade
And the winters getting played
And the ceilings getting caved
Cause you chillin' on my roof
While I'm building up the game
