You can now see Kanye West on the cover of both TIME and PAPER Magazine. His profile in the "TIME 100" issue was written by the multibillionaire engineer Elon Musk, but in PAPER, Kanye delivers a self-penned essay on his status as a modern innovator.
He begins by saying he no longer focuses on status, but, rather, on giving the world the most "information" he possibly can: "I think it's so important for me, as an artist, to give Drake as much information as I can, A$AP, Kendrick, Taylor Swift, any of these younger artists as much information as I can to make better music in the future."
Music is no longer his main priority, though: "I am not what I would consider truly a musician. I am an inventor. I am an innovator." Music is what made him famous, but his spirit is now fueled by many other creative pursuits, such as fashion: "Fashion is something that's in my heart to do -- in my spirit. There's no world that can stop me from what I love. Not the rap world, not the fashion world, not the real world." Fashion-wise, Yeezy: Season 1 with adidas, he claims, was not even his College Dropout; "We're still on mixtapes."
He ends with a plea to the rest of humanity: "Help me help more."
