There's been a bit of bad blood between Jay Z and one of the stars of his "Picasso Baby" video, performance artist, Marina Abramović over the last few days. Marina went on record saying that Jay Z "used her" for the video, calling it a "one-way transaction".
Today, Jay Z's art adviser, Jeanne Greenberg-Rohatyn shared a receipt from the Marina Abramović Institute, which read; "Thank you for your donation," insinuating that the rapper had made a payment to the school.
Looks like Jay's donation checks out, as the institute has issued a formal apology to the rapper, indicating that they never informed Marina of the donation.
Marina Abramović was not informed of Shawn “Jay Z” Carter’s donation from two years ago. We are sincerely sorry to both Marina Abramović and Shawn “Jay Z” Carter for this, and since then we have taken to [sic] appropriate actions to reconcile this matter.
So technically, neither Hov or Marina is to blame, but we're sure the artist feels a bit silly following the confusion. Check out the official statement in the gallery above.
