Seminal New Orleans rap label No Limit Records is being relaunched as No Limit Records Forever, a digital label run by founder Percy "Master P" Miller's 21-year-old son Romeo.
The legendary label, which sold over 75 million records from 1990 to 2003, will be reborn in 2011 with Romeo (formerly known as Lil Romeo) at the helm, aided by his brother, Valentino serving as Vice President, uncle Silkk The Shocker as Chief Operating Officer and cousin Black Don as Senior VP of A&R.
No Limit Forever's current roster includes Romeo, Silkk, Black Don, Suni Blac, Eastwood, G5-J, Lil D., Gangsta and Bengie. Plans are currently in the works for a reality TV show, animated cartoon series and to launch a national talent search for new artists and executives.
"I can relate to the new era of this music business. I have a lot of on-hands experience working with one of the greatest music company execs ever, my father," Romeo said in a statement. "He taught me the marketing of this business and I took the time out to complete my education at USC where I studied technology and business," Romeo continued. "I feel that I have the best of both worlds. I'm a hard worker with a billion dollars worth of knowledge and many resources. My goal is to build a digital hub where artists can become entrepreneurs and make instant revenue off of their music. My resources and I have created a technology to stop online piracy."
At its height, No Limit featured some of rap's biggest names, including Snoop Dogg, Mystical, Silkk The Shocker, Master P, Soulja Slim, 504 Boyz and more. It paved the way for New Orleans reigning kingpins, Cash Money Records, and artists like Lil Wayne, Juvenile, the Hot Boys and many more.
