Drake's "Energy" music video just hit Apple Music, giving them an exclusive that'll further propel them ahead of their competitor TIDAL. On top of the "Energy" visuals, off the much-lauded If You're Reading This It's Too Late, Drizzy unleashed another exclusive, a collaboration with Majid Jordan, through Beats 1.
The music video was unveiled during a Zane Lowe interview with the rapper, and Drake had this to say about it: "It's shocking, it's beautiful, it's a lot of things." That last part about sums it up: it's a lot of things. Some of those things are weird. With the help of CGI, Drake's face is transplanted on to various celebrity look-alikes, and he raps the lyrics through them. It's a montage of scenes from pop culture, some new and some old-- we get a clip from the infamous OJ Simpson car chase, as well as a re-enactment of Kanye West's "Bound 2" music video, among others.
Here are all the people that get the honor of a Drizzy impersonation during the "Energy" music video.
Oprah
Drake does his best Oprah face, accompanied by Tom Cruise, harkening back to Cruise's couch incident (which, surprisingly, was 10 years ago).
Family portrait
Drake is seen as both a young chubby child as well as himself in this strange family portrait.
Benjamin Franklin
Drake may be a Canadian, but he opts for American bills in the "Energy" video, placing his face on that of Benjamin Franklin.
From the $100 bill, we get Floyd "Money" Mayweather. Drizzy lies in a hotel bed, with stacks of cash surrounding him, donning a Mayweather hat. 50 Cent doesn't get so lucky, although people may recall the original scene, which featured both Fiddy and Mayweather showing off their massive amounts of cash in a hotel room.
Justin Bieber went viral earlier this year (for the bajillionith time), when photos from his Calvin Klein ad campaign surfaced. Here goes Drake's attempt. Good luck getting this image out of your head.
Miley Cyrus
Obviously if you have an impersonation of the Biebz, you have to have some Miley in there too. Drake parodies her "Wrecking Ball" music video" here.
Dan Bilzerian
Next up is Instagram (social media in general)-famous Dan Bilzerian. For those unfamiliar, the man is a professional poker player, extremely rich, and galavants across the world with hot bitches looking for the best parties.
Rob Ford
Toronto's very own once-mayor Rob Ford gets his own impersonation, as Drake looks to recreate Ford's escapades with smoking crack.
Kanye West
Even Kanye West doesn't escape Drizzy's tirade of impressions, with his "Bound 2" music video getting a look.
Queen of England(?)
Does anyone know who this old white lady with a chihuahua is? We're guessing it may be the Queen of England.
Larry Flynt
This appears to be Larry Flynt in a wheelchair. It's almost hard to tell that it's Drake here, but if you look close enough, you can make out some of his facial features.
Ken doll
Drake as a male barbie. I would not be surprised if these actually get made one day.
President Obama
President Barack Obama seems like a more obvious choice, as he stands at the podium delivering an important speech during a press conference ("I got enemies, got a lot of enemies...").
OJ Simpson
This is one we weren't really expecting. Drake takes on the role of OJ Simpson, during the L.A. car chase that ensued in 1994.
The Cleveland Cavaliers player Lebron is seen giving a pep talk in this black and white clip.
Young Drake
The music video ends as it began, with a scene featuring what looks like a Young Drizzy, perhaps out in Memphis 'cause it definitely doesn't look like Toronto.
