Snoop Dogg and Scoop DeVille combine for effortlessly cool Long Beach anthem: "Back Up."

Snoop Dogg has just dropped off a new project intended to bring some shine to the city he's repped all his life: Long Beach, California. Compton has received its fair share of musical tributes this year, and now it's Long Beach's turn, as Snoop, DJ Drama, and several of the area's promising stars have teamed up to release a new mixtape, Beach City

Snoop shows up on 8 of the tape's 21 tracks, and there are a few must-listens if you're a fan of the OG '90s Snoop. The tracks opener, "Back Up," is one such track -- a creepy g-funk throwback produced by Scoop DeVille, on which Snoop rattles off gangsta raps and sinister whispers to stirring effect. He's still Long Beach's ambassador after all these years, though the town's potential torchbearers might very well lie on Beach City

Quotable Lyrics

I'm a product of the Beach
To each his own, hard as stone
Lotta y'all n*ggas 'bout as hard as foam
Dead wrong, tryna sneak Tanika the phone
Step back nephew or feel the heat of the chrome
