There's marketing, and then there's marketing. Someone in Finland exemplified the latter recently by putting thousands of cutouts of Nicki Minaj's eye-catching "Anaconda" single artwork on the steps of a cathedral in Helsinki, the capital of Finland. The reason? To promote her upcoming performance at the country's Summer Up Festival, which will mark the first time she's performed in Finland.
Helsinki News reports that 100 of the cutouts had two-day festival passes attached to their backs, which clearly tipped people off that this was a marketing campaign, not just a viral stunt. Festival director Martin Mustonen is quoted saying that the placement of all of these cutouts was to cause "positive wonderment." I'm not sure if the historic Helsinki Cathedral is still in use, but if it is, its staff may not agree.
