Toronto continues to produce exciting artists, and Devontée should be up next on your radar, if he's not there already. His new tape, District Vibe, is another move forward in his come-up as a self-made artist. Unlike some guys from the 6, Devontée is a cold-flowing rapper's rapper. Not to say he doesn't have any other skills -- he does a little singing, and he also produced almost every track on the tape, including "Godspeed," featuring Joey Bada$$, who's one of two features on District Vibe.
Devontée and Joey both bring similar talents to the mic, and on "Godspeed," they each trade off aggressive yet contemplative verses. There's a great balance between lyrics and attitude that remains engrossing all the way through.
