Just as Apple is anticipated to launch their new music streaming service (which may or may not involve Kanye West, but more than likely does involve Drake), they've had to recall the Beats Pill XL speaker due to a fire safety concern.
Apple has posted a notice for the recall on their site, while NY Times reported on it too. The statement on Apple's site reads, "Apple has determined that, in rare cases, the battery in the Beats Pill XL Speaker may overheat and pose a fire safety risk." NY Times reports that eight complaints were made about the speaker according to the Consumer Product Safety Commission; one complaint involved a burn to the finger and in another, a desk was damaged.
If you have a Beats Pill XL Speaker, you can request a refund or store credit of $325 USD, which is slightly higher than the retail price of $300 USD.
Their website states that they have voluntarily recalled the product. For more details on the return process, head here.
