Travis Porter's S.A.Q. might be one of the most surprising projects from Atlanta this year. The trio have been an important part of the scene for years now, but with the emergence of prolific influencers like Future and Young Thug, Porter's recent projects remained consistent but didn't have quite the same punch as their earlier work.
While the rest of the Atlanta chases after the 808 Mafia Kill Bill siren sound popularized on Future's recent mixtape work, Porter have enlisted a producer you've probably never heard of-- Mr. 2-17 --to do the entire project, and his bright D4L-esque bounce might be just what we need to contrast the darkening of ATL rap post-56 Nights.
"Blue Flame" has the Super Mario groove of "Cha Cha," but brings the energy up with some vocal sample stabs and some propulsive flows, with Bandit Gang Marco joining Porter to ride the melting 8-bit beat.
Quotable Lyrics:
Black man in the White House
Fucked your girl on a white couch
Surboard make her wipe out
Blue flame addict
Don't make go and grab them racks out the attic
I'm a fool, gotta have it
20 racks, let her have it
