In a recent E! News interview promoting their new Netflix movie Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga, Will Ferrell and Rachel McAdams hinted that there may be a Wedding Crashers sequel in the works. “Wedding Crashers 2, yeah. I think we can just say it’s being written,” Ferrell declared.
Ferrell then joked that the sequel to the 2005 comedy, also starring Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson, should focus on divorce, saying “How about if it’s just the lawyers representing everyone in divorce court? And just make it like a legal courtroom drama, not funny at all.”
McAdams also expressed interest in the reboot, saying “I got to work with Owen again on Midnight In Paris, so that was super fun. And I worked with Vince again on True Detective, now I’m just remembering it. But those were very different. So yeah, it’d be nice to go back and have a romp.”
McAdams then shared her admiration for Ferrell, while revealing that they actually never interacted with one another on the Wedding Crashers set. “Will and I actually never met on that film, because he was doing a cameo…we were like ships passing,” she said. “I was always just so wishing another opportunity would come along, where we’d actually be in the same scene together.”
Let's all cross our fingers and hope that a Wedding Crashers sequel actually comes to fruition. In the meantime, Eurovision arrived on Netflix on Friday, June 26th.
