LeBron James continues to work towards becoming a media mogul.

LeBron James might be one of the best basketball players in the world but he is also extremely business savvy. The Los Angeles Lakers superstar has been able to build quite the portfolio thanks to his various media companies including SpringHill Entertainment and Uninterrupted. Now, the basketball legend is looking to consolidate all of these efforts as he and Maverick Carter have raised $100 million for a brand new media company called SpringHill Co.

This company will combine his existing ventures into one big entity. The goal of this is to create a myriad of content that will allow for those from marginalized communities, to be given an important and necessary voice. As LeBron told Bloomberg Businessweek, the events of the last month have pushed him to go in this direction.

“We’ve been through a lot this year,” James said. “Just seeing that video, how many people were hurt not only in Minneapolis, but all over the world—and especially in the Black community, because we’ve seen this over and over and over. So, you know, it’s been a lot that’s gone on in 2020.”

LeBron is showing us once again that he is much more than an athlete. Not to mention, this venture will give opportunities to many people who otherwise wouldn't have been given such creative freedom. Overall, this is a big win.
