We're now a day removed from the premiere of Boogie's highly anticipated second mixtape, The Reach. Dropping on the anniversary of his break-out Thirst 48 as well as the birthday of his six-year old son, The Reach is definitely not just another 'mixtape' for Boogie, rather a heartfelt narrative about his life in the West Coast and topical issues. It's also an important benchmark in his career thus far.
There are a lot of stand-outs, and "First Evergreen" is one of them. With a flute-riddled melody from Willie B that almost recalls elevator music, Boogie raps about gangbanging, opposing it with religious thoughts.
If you haven't scooped up The Reach, do that now. Watch our interview with Compton rapper below.
Quotable Lyrics
How we sayin' no evil but we hearing these sirens
How we thinking we grounded when all of my niggas is pilots
Cause this is plain ol' bullshit
The same ol' pastor in the same ol' pulpit
I'm praying to God for all of my niggas I lost
From the streets that I cross, you think I'm gon' pull out a cross
When them niggas gangbanging
