The Roots will be putting on their 8th annual Roots Picnic this coming summer in Philadelphia. They've tapped a dope line-up for this year, with a mix of rap and r'n'b, mainstream and indie, albeit, mostly indie.
The Roots Picnic headliners will be The Roots and The Weeknd. In addition, you'll be able to catch A$AP Rocky, Phantogram, Erykah Badu (backed by The Roots), Hudson Mohawke, DJ Mustard, Raury, Bishop Nehru, Marc E. Bassy, Rae Sremmurd and more.
Questlove spoke on this year's performers with Billboard, saying, "I think this is one of our most diverse lineups to date. I am looking forward to seeing the discovery process. That is what excites me each year. Seeing someone who bought a ticket for one act, discover the music of an unexpected artist. I'm sure there will be some A$AP Rocky fans that will dig Hiatus Kaiyote or some Weeknd fans that will discover Chronixx and vice versa."
