Ne-Yo is feeling grateful for having spent so much time with his family these last few months as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, as it allowed him and his wife, Crystal Smith, to work out their differences. The Grammy winner told the ladies from The Talk in an episode that aired Tuesday (June 23rd) about how his relationship with his previously estranged wife has changed for the better since going into quarantine.
“The whole quarantine thing was kind of a blessing,” he confessed. He explained that because he was spending more time with his family, he was able to really “lock back in” with his wife and kids. “Before the quarantine happened, we were definitely talking divorce,” Ne-Yo, 40, shared. “And the quarantine kind of forced us to sit still, block out the noise from the world, you know the world can get very, very loud, and we tend to let the world’s opinion mean more in certain situations than it should.” As a result, they were able to have some “blatantly, painfully, brutally honest” conversations which made them see what was wrong with their marriage. “We’re actually stronger now than we were before,” he said. “Now we feel like we can really talk to each other.”
The couple first announced that they were splitting up back in February, even revealing that they were planning on filing for divorce. However, they remained amicable throughout the whole process, and now, it looks like love has conquered all.
