Penn Badgley, star of Netflix's You, reacted to the allegations of sexual misconduct made against his show's co-star Chris D'Elia this week. Five women came forward accusing D'Elia of having inappropriate contact with them, some when they were minors. On You, D'Elia plays the role of Henderson, a comedian who preys on minors which was apparently very telling. Badgley called the allegations "disturbing" during a recent interview with LA Times.

"It did affect me deeply. I was very troubled by it. I am very troubled by it," he said. "I don’t know Chris. I know that, if there’s anything we need to do in this age, it’s to believe women.”
"The idea that a show like ours would indirectly, unwittingly be a haven for people who are abusive is disturbing. It’s very disturbing,” he continued. “What does it take to change that? Because it’s not just vetting individuals. There needs to be a change in culture and attitude so that that kind of behavior is so clearly reprehensible, it’s so clearly, like, anti-human."
Badgley added that he and the producers of the Netflix series have reached out to Jenna Ortega, who played Badgley's neighbor and D'Elia's prey on the show.
