While many folks are holed up at home, following social distancing guidelines (and also because, a lot of things are straight up closed right now), it seems like wild animals have decided it's their time to shine. We've seen a couple of stories in the news already about an abundance of animals hitting the streets during this time, and now alligators are joining the fun.
Perhaps because the golf course in at the Hilton Head Lakes in Hardeeville, South Carolina has been less busy than usual, a pair of dueling alligators decided to use the 18th hole as their ring for a bout of wrestling. Golfer Matthew Proffitt happened to capture it on camera, and the Golf Club later shared it to their Facebook page, where it's since gone viral.
"They would lay still for a few minutes, with their jaws locked on each other, and then try to roll or shake," Proffitt told local news Q13 Fox. Apparently, this went on for one or two hours. There's no word as to who won the fight, or what happened to the other alligator.
As you can see in the clip below, one alligator appears to have the head of the other alligator all the way in his mouth, while he aggressively shakes the alligator. Each gator appears to be grunting and growling, too.
It's quite the thing to behold. Watch the video below.
