DaBaby is set to hold a press conference and public discussion with city officials and community leaders in his hometown of Charlotte, North Carolina titled "Black Lives BEEN Mattered." As the nation continues to experience unrest in the face of such violent police killings of Black people, DaBaby felt that it was time he address the issue in the city that he's from.

During the discussion, the rapper plans to examine police reform, systemic racism, and how the Black Lives Matter movement has impacted North Carolina. The event will take place outside the Mecklenburg County Sheriff's Office at 12:30pm tomorrow, June 19th—AKA Juneteenth. DaBaby will be joined by Mecklenburg County Sheriff Garry McFadden, Charlotte City Councilman Braxton Winston and former Carolina Panther Thomas Davis during the conversation.

“I have had my own experiences with the police," DaBaby noted in a press release. "It’s time to have a serious conversation about police reform and systemic racism in our city. Black lives been mattered and always will matter.” Back in December, DaBaby was detained on drug charges after a concert in Charlotte that were later dropped. He maintained that the detainment was unlawful, and footage was later released that shows the whole thing go down.
