Mike Schultz thought COVID-19 wouldn't hurt him but instead, he spent close to two months in the hospital/

Ever since the Coronavirus was declared an international pandemic, millions of people around the world have been infected with the virus and many are worried about what this could do to their families and friends. This pandemic is no joke and while some people are trying to call it a hoax, it is very obviously a real thing that needs to be taken seriously.

One man in the United States is speaking out about his experience and recently shared his dramatic 50-pound weight loss caused by COVID-19. Mike Schultz is a nurse from San Francisco and after going to Miami Beach, he became ill and was eventually hospitalized. As he told Buzzfeed, he eventually got pneumonia and the disease made him weak. In total, he spent eight weeks in the hospital.

"I knew what I thought going in [about the coronavirus]. I didn't think it was as serious as it was until after things started happening," Schultz said. "I thought I was young enough for it not to affect me, and I know a lot of people think that. [...] Amongst other things, covid19 reduced my lung capacity with pneumonia. Over 8 weeks I’ve been away from family and friends Getting stronger everyday and working to increase my lung capacity. I’ll get back to where I was in healthier ways this time....maybe even do cardio."

Schultz was recently released from the hospital and has recovered although it will be a long journey before he regains the weight. Needless to say, stay safe out there.
