Speedtest’s global index of countries with the fastest fixed broadband and mobile data internet speeds was released in April 2020. The United States fell to number 11 this year, just missing the top 10. The list is now comprised of Southeast Asian and European countries.
- The leading country is Singapore (average download speed of 198.46 Mbps, upload speed of 207.17 Mbps, latency of 12ms).
- Runner-up is Hong Kong (average download speed of 176.70 Mbps, upload speed of 172.96 Mbps, latency of 15ms).
- Thailand, after placing 4th last year, progressed to 3rd place (average download speed of 159.87 Mbps, upload speed of 125.98 Mbps, latency of 9ms).
- Switzerland came in 4th place (average download speed of 152.05 Mbps, upload speed of 97.88 Mbps, latency of 14ms).
- Romania (average download speed of 151.87 Mbps, upload speed of 110.67 Mbps and a latency of 13ms).
- Monaco (average download speed of 140.10 Mbps, upload speed of 79.29 Mbps, latency of 28ms).
- Andorra placed 7th, an improvement by five spots (average download speed of 139.66 Mbps, upload speed of 148.94 Mbps, latency of 7ms).
- Macau came in 8th (download speed of 137.47 Mbps, upload speed of 127.52 Mbps, latency of 6ms).
- Sweden placed 9th (download speed of 137.43 Mbps, upload speed of 109.13 Mbps, latency of 16ms).
- Denmark concludes the top 10 (average download speed of 136.44 Mbps, upload speed of 105.46, latency of 13ms).
Macaus, Sweden, and Denmark retained their 2019 spots on the list.
