Young Thug takes to Instagram to preview an emotional-sounding new song, sparking hype that a new project is in the works.

Young Thug has easily solidified himself as one of the game's most dynamic and unpredictable artists by a wide margin. One minute, he could be rapping the standout verse on a collaboration with Drake and 2 Chainz, while the next he could be singing gentle melodies over Bright Eyes interpolations.

His discography seems to consist of a variety of different styles, with 2017's Beautiful Thugger Girls holding it down as his most overt attempt at a "singing album." It also happens to hold a loyal fanbase of those who favor Thug's melodic stylings above all. Luckily, he appears ready and willing to revisit some of that territory, if his latest musical preview is any indication. Taking to Instagram to highlight an unreleased track, Thugger showcased an emotional-sounding, guitar-driven ballad -- all while opening the floor for speculation of a new album in the future.

Of course, the fact Thug tagged Yak Gotti might mean the track is associated with him to some capacity, though all we can really do is speculate on that front. Either way, it's exciting to see Thugger once again attempting to cross new musical ground, and those of us who enjoy his melodic music should have much to look forward to in the coming months. After all, lest we forget that Thug originally intended to drop off a new album called Punk at the beginning of the year -- perhaps we can expect more news on that to follow.
