Mark Battles hit us with his new mixtape, Shelter Food, today, and while the 17-track tape has plenty of great moments, fans have already gravitated towards "Where I'm From" as a favorite. Battles invites Tory Lanez to take on the woozy J. Cuse production, and he decides to drop some bars rather than hitting us with his increasingly common RnB delivery.
As much as we love Tory's melodies, we're happy he came through to spit on this one, turning the record into a great tag-team dynamic, with both rappers bringing out their best punchlines for the occasion, including an almost-too-soon, if it weren't so rewindable Mrs. Doubtfire line from Battles.
Quotable Lyrics:
Black on black, we pull up like somebody died
Guess it's 'cause my girl Giuseppe game on homicide
Photos of us, foreign colorin' like an Easter egg
I can't even talk to Siri, I think she the feds
Where I'm From (Prod. By J.Cuse)
