Dak Prescott and the Dallas Cowboys have a lot to discuss at this point.

Dak Prescott has proven himself to be a formidable quarterback over the last couple of years and Dallas Cowboys fans are awaiting his anticipated new contract with the team. Both sides have been negotiating for what seems like an eternity now and nothing is getting done. There has been a lot of speculation as to why that is although fans are starting to get worried that both sides could draw this out into training camp.

According to Jeremy Fowler of ESPN, the Cowboys want to lockdown Prescott for five to seven years. However, the QB feels like that is too long of a term and would much rather take four years. This has led to a complete stall in negotiations as both sides clearly can't come to a decision.

“There’s been a bit a lull in negotiations with the Cowboys, so both sides continue to talk this up,” Fowler said. “But I’m told they should be ready for anything, including the possibility of pressing up against that July 15 deadline for the franchise tag. There’s a few obstacles in play, including number of years. The Cowboys like to go longer term—five, six, seven years on their deals. Prescott wants more flexibility on that, and so it’s been steady, but it’s been very slow on that front.”

Stay tuned for updates on this situation as it will surely become one of the biggest stories in the NFL.
