The idea of trading Russell Wilson seems blasphemous these days.

Russell Wilson has made great use of his short time in the NFL as he already has a Super Bowl and two appearances in the big game, under his belt. Wilson is easily a top 5 QB in the league right now and if you're a Seattle Seahawks fan, you're happy to know that he will be on the team for a very long time.

Between his two Super Bowl appearances and the last couple of years, Wilson was struggling at times as QB of the Seahawks. So much so, that there are now rumors circulating that the team almost traded him. According to Chris Simms of NBC Sports, the Seahawks were rumored to have called the Cleveland Browns in 2018, inquiring about their first overall pick. In fact, they were offering Russell Wilson in return.

Simms is unsure of whether or not the Seahawks did any following up after making the rumored offer but it's pretty shocking when you think about it. The Browns ended up taking Baker Mayfield and while he had a solid rookie campaign, he regressed immensely in 2019. Needless to say, the Seahawks did a good job by keeping Wilson aboard.

If you're a Seahawks fan, you can't help but cringe just a little bit at this rumor. It would have certainly hurt the team's chances of being an elite squad.
