It's a dark day in the world of comedy as Jerry Stiller, the actor who played George Costanza's father on Seinfeld, has passed away at the age of 92. Stiller reportedly died of natural causes.
He was viewed as one of the absolute greats in comedy, working on so many iconic projects and working with his wife Anne Meara to become one of the most popular husband/wife comedy duos. Together, they brought Ben Stiller into the world.
Jerry Stiller created Festivus on Seinfeld, which has stuck around for years. Still, it is something that is celebrated every holiday season by fans of the show. He referred to it as "a holiday for the rest of us where you gather your family around and you tell them all the ways they have disappointed you over the past year."
Jerry also appeared in a ton of movies with his son, Ben. Together, they were in Zoolander, The Heart Break Kid, Hot Pursuit, and more.
Ben Stiller said the following about his father's passing: "He was a great dad and grandfather, and the most dedicated husband to Anne for 62 years. He will be greatly missed. Love you Dad."
Send your prayers and positive energy to the Stiller family as they grieve his loss.
Rest in peace to a true comedy legend, Jerry Stiller.
