Tay-K speaks about the protests and systemic racism in a message from behind bars.

Finally, all four police officers involved in the killing of George Floyd have been charged. Derek Chauvin, the former cop who forcefully kneeled on Floyd's neck and back for over eight minutes has had his charged upgraded to second-degree murder but that doesn't mean that the fight is over. In fact, it's really only just begun.

Systemic racism is a problem that people of color have had to deal with their entire lives in America. As protests continue this week, one man that has become a product of the system is speaking out.

Tay-K, who was arrested and sentenced to 55 years in prison for murder, is addressing the current social climate from behind bars, providing an update and asking an important question.

"Our Black Lives Matter. Stop Systemic Oppression," wrote the rapper. "Coming from a black kid that’s been trapped in this cycle since 4 years old. My dad got locked up leading to my mom losing custody of me and my sister. I’ve had to live foster home to foster home until I was 13 when my my dad got released from prison and got granted custody of us. Due to a toxic home environment me and my sister were forced to leave home at an early age of 15 being labeled as a runaway, I had to engage in activities I’m not proud of in order to make ends meet."

He continued, asking a question to close out his message.

"These are the cards that I was dealt, And my question today is....did i ever even have a chance ? We don’t get chance."
