Even though his longtime run with NBC’s "Community" show has come to end, that isn't stopping Childish Gambino, aka Donald Glover, from hitting the small screen this season. Gambino, who grew up a huge Spider-Man fan, will get to live out a childhood dream as the voice of Miles Morales on the new season of Disney XD’s animated series "Ultimate Spider-Man: Web Warriors".
Back In 2011, Donald took to twitter and publicly campaigned to play Spider-Man in the reboot movie, but as we all know it went to actor Andrew Garfield. Fittingly enough, the show's writer, Brian Michael Bendis, was inspired by those Gambino actions and decided to introduce Morales' character to the series after he saw the actor's Twitter campaign and watched the entertainer dress up in Spider-Man pajamas on an episode of NBC’s show "Community".
Gambino told USA Today,
“I never liked Superman that much, because I was like, ‘Yo, this dude can’t die. It’s too easy. Batman is pretty fly. He’s a close second, just because he doesn’t really have powers. He’s just a justice-driven vigilante. Spider-Man is the best because you just don’t know who he is, and he’s funny and he’s poor. I understand Spider-Man a lot on that level. He’s just trying to make it."
Check out a clip of Gambino’s voice over below, and look for the new season of "The Ultimate Spider-Man: Web Warriors" to premiere this Sunday, at 9am ET on Disney XD.
