With various online sources reporting that R. Kelly has not been accepting of his child's recent decision to come out as transgender, Kellz addresses the controversy in a new interview.

Earlier this month, R. Kelly's 13-year-old daughter Jaya announced via social media that she was transgender, saying that she would now like to be called "Jay" and that she was "eager to undergo gender reassignment surgery." Since then, Kellz has not spoken about the matter in public, and his ex-wife (Jay's mother) recently told TMZ that he "refuses to accept his daughter is now his son."

In a new interview with radio station WCGI, R. Kelly was asked about Jay, and though he took the time to answer the question, his response didn't really include his opinion on Jay's recent announcement. Quoth Kellz:

“You don’t really want to open it up by saying my daughter is becoming my son. You gotta know there’s a back story. There’s a background. That’s why you can’t judge nobody.”

The hosts then asked him about "blogs" that say he's been neglecting Jay, to which he responded:

“Don’t even give the blogs that kind of credit. You know what I’m saying? Real talk. As far as that is concerned, always believe what you see with your own eyes that is. Always believe what you see. That is the best way to go about this business... I’ve heard a lot of things about a lot of people and it was never true.”

He later said he has "Three lovely, lovely kids that I'm in love with and that's in love with me," but said he just doesn't like "addressing dumb [bleep]" in public. Watch the full interview below.
