Tinashe was finally able to reclaim her career and her sound with the release of her Songs for You album, an independent release under her own "Tinashe Music" imprint, after the singer struggled with major label delays and politics for the better half of her career.
Now that she's got the reigns back, she's been sliding comfortably into her airy, sometimes electronic/modern-influenced r'n'b sound. Songs for You dropped in November 2019, but Tinashe is taking fans back to the album real quick with a fresh version of her single "Hopscotch." For this remix, she's called upon fellow r'n'b'ers THEY., who themselves just returned to the fold the other week with "Count Me In."
THEY. are a duo, comprised of singer Drew Love and producer Dante Jones, signed to Mind of a Genius. Their music often has a rock influence, and they bring a bit of that sound to Tinashe's remix for sure. The song is now a bit more upbeat, and a bit less hollow than the original version, thanks to the additions in the production.
Take a listen and let us know if you prefer this version to the original.
We've got this song as well as more from THEY. on R&B SEASON playlist right now.
Quotable Lyrics
Beverly and Fairfax if you're down to mob
Hittin' Jon & Vinny's, want fusilli spicy sauce
Paparazzi on me 'cause they know that I'm a star
Got these titties sittin' extra pretty in that bra
'Nashe steady grindin', I ain't ever fallen off
Switch on me, you never gonna get back what you lost
