Lecrae delivers a new single, "Deep End," ahead of his album "Restoration."

Lecrae was embroiled in a bit of online backlash when he had an in-depth conversation with an Atlanta mega-church pastor, Louie Giglio, as well as the CEO of Chic-Fil-A, Dan Cathy-- so as you can imagine, that's already quite the line-up. During their sit-down, Giglio was so bold as to suggest that we look at slavery as "white blessing" (as well as white privilege). Lecrae later responded to the controversy, assuring fans no matter what we saw in the video, he was not okay with what the pastor said.

However today, Lecrae is putting his attention back on his upcoming album, Restoration, which was delayed during the pandemic. To that effect, he's dropped a new single "Deep End," that contains a familiar vocal sample. Foushee's vocals which first went viral as part of Sleepy Hallow's "Deep End" record are re-purposed here, however the final production is altogether different than Sleepy Hallow's. It's a haunting, swooning beat that finds Lecrae counting his blessings, and attempting to do everything he can to stay afloat.

Check it out and let us know what you think-- will you be listening to Restoration when it finally drops?

If you missed his earlier single, peep "Set Me Free" with YK Osiris here.

Quotable Lyrics

Yeah, I might go crazy
I might go MJ back in the 80s
Back in the 90s I might go off
For they better not try me, it might get dicey
I ain't tryna go back to the old me
I'm tryna hang on like my mamma told me
Sometimes legs get weak and your arms give out
And you sink to the bottom slowly
A grown man wishing that somebody hold me
Never knew my daddy so nobody show me
