Compton's own Buddy has been steadily putting out quality material for a minute now, but many began paying attention after the rapper stole the show at Dreamville's Revenge Of The Dreamers 3 recording sessions; not many could pull off ridiculing J. Cole over his weed-smoking prowess, or lack thereof, yet Buddy did so without batting an eye. Now, following the release of his anthemic "Black 2," the melodically-inclined rapper has come through with another new single, this one stemming from the latest Insecure soundtrack.
The track, which stems from the HBO original's fourth season, finds Buddy channeling the "schmoove" over a laid-back and ever-so-slightly funky groove. It's exactly the sort of west-coast babymaking music you might expect from a song called "Bad Decisions" as penned by a notably mischievous young artist. It also happens to be a worthy showcase of Buddy's versatility, which was previously put on display on his last studio album Harlon & Alondra back in 2018. Check out the new song for yourself now, and sound off -- is Buddy currently on your radar?
QUOTABLE LYRICS
I don't wanna fall in love
I'm too vulnerable
I done tried it once before
Got my heart broken
I was sad and alone
I'm no good at moving on
