Tomorrow marks the official release date of KXNG Crooked and Joell Ortiz's brand new collaboration album H.A.R.D, and seeing as we're also due to get Freddie Gibbs' Alfredo album -- it might just be the most bar-heavy day of the year thus far. Now, the pair have come through and released another new single, once again linking up with Heatmakerz for the contemplative "Lose My Mind." Off the bat it becomes clear that both men are leaving nothing off the table, opening up about their respective childhoods and the hardships experienced on the come-up.
"The struggles, the hardships, the sacrifices, and the realities. The hand I was dealt sucked," explains Joell, speaking on the track via press release. "I’m so happy I shuffled and played my way outta there. I still deal with the effects of that upbringing to this day." Crook echoes the sentiment, stating that "Bad things happened in my past. I can’t change any of it, but I can change the way I view those situations. I choose to learn from the past and apply what I’ve learned to the now."
As expected, "Lose My Mind" is a tale brilliantly told by two of the game's elite lyricists, veterans of Slaughterhouse and vivid storytellers in their own right. Fans of their movement will find much to love in this inspirational tale, and there's plenty more where that came from on H.A.R.D. Check back for that when it drops later on at midnight.
