Today marks the arrival of Kehlani's newest album It Was Good Until It Wasn't, which featured appearances from Tory Lanez, Jhene Aiko, James Blake, Lucky Daye, and more. And despite being in the midst of a pandemic, the Bay Area singer has remained creative in her approach to music videos -- look no further than the self-directed and highly sensual "Toxic" visuals. This time around, she's opted to take a road trip for her latest clip, delivering an emotional rendition of "Open" as her chosen single.
The clip, directed by Hyphy Williams, begins with some picturesque views -- not only of her idyllic surrounding environment, but of Kehlani herself. Upon taking a soak in the hot tub, she proceeds to hit the dusty trail for a little bit of self-reflection. Before long, she's taking a stroll in the wide-open wilderness, surrounded by gargantuan mountains lit by a crystal clear sky. Insofar as premise goes, it's a relatively simple one, though rendered effective through strong cinematography and a passionate performance from 'Lani herself.
Check it out for yourself, and sound off. What do you think about this album?
