John Legend came through and offered his vocal stylings to Buju Banton's new track, "Memories," the first single off his upcoming album, Upside Down. After signing a new deal with Roc Nation last November, Buju has been prepping his latest project, which will serve as his first full-length, solo studio album in nearly a decade. The last offering we received of this sort was Before The Dawn back in 2010, and while the reggae artist did put out a compilation album by the name of Steppaz Riddim earlier this year, which features his own single, "Steppa," along with joints from a variety of dancehall acts, Upside Down will be his first venture on his own in quite some time.
To amp up the anticipation for the new album, Buju has delivered its first single with the help of John Legend. Earlier this year, Buju also joined forces with Tory Lanez for the remix of his own song, "Trust," and last month, he linked up with Dvsn and Ty Dolla Sign on "Dangerous City."
Check out "Memories" and let us know what you think of this crossover.
Quotable Lyrics
Treasure yyour body but I, cherish your mind
Even though it’s complicated, which is most of the time
A life without your love ain’t workin’ out fine
Perception and reality, clearly define
